As bad as the quote, the speech, and the parable is, he still makes a good point.
The follow quote has been transcribed from the GDC Radio podcast episode "How to Prototype a Game in Under 7 Days." The speaker is Kyle Gabler from Carnegie Mellon University's Experimental Gameplay Project and now with EA.
So there is this episode of the X-Men, which I don't really remember, but here's what I think happened. Um, like, one of the big bad guys, I think his name is Apocalypse, like all the X-Men got into his spaceship. And then he had a force field in his spaceship, then he put the X-Men in it. And then they were trying to get out, like pushing on the walls. And he was like, "Ah ha! You can't get out of my force field because for every force you apply there is an equal and opposite force!" And like, but they, you know like, because they couldn't go through? But then, somehow, they got out and they got this Apocalypse guy trapped in his own force field. And they were like "Ha! Now you're trapped! We've foiled you!" And then, but not really, 'cause like, "I have a magic key!" And then he goes, "Pschik!" and the magic force field goes away. And I think that's really important, because I think...[audience laughs] [Laughter, clears throat] I think the lesson we learn there is to stop hitting your head against the wall, just use the magic key.
