Don't you mean "over 10 years"? You got it Christmas of 1998 IIRC. I can't believe it finally bit the dust. Sad day.
You should find a replacement mobo just to keep the legacy alive, lol.
hooray for not paying attention to whether i'm logged in.
A new mobo means it's a new computer imo. If I could switch out just the BIOS I might, but I think it's time to let it go. I might pass on the name, but I think I'm going 100% Greek in naming conventions now.
The things has been dragging its feet for a while. A format and new hard drive did nothing to speed it up. It can't run modern apps well, hell it can't even play H.264 video. I think the Powerleap upgrade has just had it. I do have the original CPU though, I might put it in to see if it works.
It doesn't get to the POST. Actually, I don't think it even powers up the video card. Turn it on and you get a "no signal" screen then nothing. No beeping, nothing on video. Maybe the VPU died, but I'm thinking BIOS since there is no video warning beep. I might play with it to see exactly what failed, but I think I'll just say what it was when I post it to Craigslist instead of fixing it.
It is sad to let it go though, but it's just a useless powerhog now.
I was thinking 99, but I think you're right about it being 98. | |
